Kidderminster Harriers today insisted they are no under pressure to cash in on star striker Jamille Matt in the January transfer window - or manager Steve Burr.

Matt was the subject of three bids from Football League club Northampton last month, who were eventually scared away by a six-figure price tag.

The 22-year-old has become a sensation this season after eight goals in 19 starts but, rather than leaving, could be offered a new deal.

His contract expires at the end of the season but, to safeguard the future of the highly-rated forward, Harriers may be pressed into action.

Chairman Mark Serrell has also revealed that Burr has been the subject of interest from other clubs since Grimsby made their move last March.

The Mariners are the only club to have made their interest public but, while clarifying Harriers' stance of Matt, Serrell added there have been others.

He said: "We have stated that we do not have to sell any of our players during this transfer window.

"We are continually monitoring contracts and contract extensions for all players - including Jamille.

"However, we always have to take into account the interests of both the player and the club.

"We would be foolish to make any guarantees about what may happen in the future.

"We have received enquires about Steve from a number of clubs since March of last year. Steve is fully aware of all of that interest.

"Steve is contracted until May 2014 and we concentrate on fully supporting him and his team in our pursuit of promotion to the Football League."

Serrell added that the club are looking to add, rather than trim, their squad before the end of the window, having already signed Dan Bradley.

The chairman said: "Steve and his assistant Gary Whild are working very hard to try and strengthen our squad.

"With regards to any names of potential targets, Steve and Gary have full responsibility in choosing the players they require.

"I think their track record speaks for itself."
