Kidderminster Harriers defender Luke Jones today prepared to face former club Forest Green on Boxing Day insisting he was right to make the switch in the summer.

Jones was captain and played all but one league game at the New Lawn last season but turned down a new contract to join Harriers for a second spell, having spent 2008-09 at Aggborough.

The 24-year-old had helped Forest Green to safety in the Blue Square Premier in his one campaign on their books, having joined Mansfield for a season after leaving Harriers in 2009.

Now Jones comes across his old club as an ex-Green player for the first time in a festive double-header, Harriers the hosts on Boxing Day before the return game away on New Year's Day.

And the centre-half believes that, with only goal difference separating sixth-placed Harriers from the play-off places as Forest Green sit ninth, his decision to switch sides was the right one.

He said: "Yes, I do think so. Looking back, we did struggle there last year, although I was skipper and felt I had a good season on a personal level.

"It was difficult over the course of a long season when we were down there struggling and fighting to stay up.

"I made the decision to move back here as I saw it as a natural progression of sorts – Kidderminster just missed out on the play-offs last season and it's a place I know well."
