Harriers captain could be kept out
Kidderminster Harriers boss Steve Burr today warned captain Mike Williams he faces a real battle to get his place back from Mickey Demetriou.
Kidderminster Harriers boss Steve Burr today warned captain Mike Williams he faces a real battle to get his place back from Mickey Demetriou.
Williams has been fit for the last four games after nearly two months out with a hip injury but stand-in Demetriou has kept his spot at left-back.
The skipper last played in the match where he was crocked, the home defeat to Luton on October 8, and continues to wait for his chance.
With Harriers on an eight-match unbeaten run, Burr is keen to promote that performances keep places going into Christmas and the New Year.
And the manager has warned that Demetriou will "take some shifting," after hailing his display in a battle with ex-Harriers winger Matthew Blair in Monday's win at York.
Burr said: "Mickey is a smashing lad and a very good trainer.
"He has arguably the hardest task of all the squad in keeping Mike Williams out of the team, but that is a testament to how well he is playing.
"Mike was unfortunate to pick up an injury but, in all honesty, Mickey is going to take some shifting with the way he is performing.
"I thought he was involved in a really good contest up against Matty Blair up at York.
"With Mike now waiting for his chance, he knows he will have to keep on working hard to keep his place."
