Lee Hendrie wants to prove he still has the talent that made him a Premier League performer after returning to the full-time game with Kidderminster Harriers.

The former Aston Villa and England midfielder signed non-contract forms at Aggborough after joining the non-league club for training on Monday.

Harriers have no game this weekend, so Hendrie has another week to get himself fit for his potential debut at Hayes & Yeading next Saturday.

The 34-year-old has been out of professional football for all of this season but has been turning out for part-timers Daventry United, as well as playing in friendlies for the Aston Villa Old Stars team.

But the one-cap England international can all upon a wealth of experience after spending 12 years at Villa Park, before moving onto a host of Football League clubs from 2007.

And Hendrie believes he still has the ability to take the Blue Square Premier by storm, after admitting he wants to prove his critics wrong.

He said: "I want to prove to people that I am still fit, can play football and perform well.

"I'm looking forward to getting my head down and seeing where it takes me - I have missed full-time training and being in amongst the lads.

"Some of the boys said they used to come and watch me when I was at Villa, which shows my age!"
