Luke Glover fired up and ready to dig in for Hednesford
Times have been tough at Hednesford Town and boss Danny Glover admitted it’s been an emotional time as he looks ahead to next season...writes Luke Powell.
The Pitmen are stable for now and have been guaranteed another year of football thanks to Hayden Dando saving the club – stepping up from his former vice-chairman role to take the reins.
Relegated last season to Northern One West, manager Glover has endured difficult times at the club which means so much to him, and the 33-year-old has revealed the effect recent events have had.
He said: “It was an emotional time being stuck in the middle of it all.
“Nobody in the club could say anything and what was going on.
“It’s been a strange couple of months since I came in, but when the club went kaput a lot of people were really down.
“It was rubbing off on myself and I’m a positive person in life, but it was so difficult.
“When the news broke that Hayden stepped in to save us in like the ‘final hour’ and get the club back on its feet it was relief more than anything.
“The excitement has started to come in the last week being able to sign players.”
Glover has retained several players since the announcement that Hednesford will play football next season and resume existence for the foreseeable future.
With the club still for sale for £1 to a suitable owner, Glover is aware there’s still uncertainties over the Pitmen’s future, but has no doubts over sticking with the club he loves and is so loyal to.
