Biggleswade Town 1 Hednesford Town 0 - Report
After a rare November appearance at Keys Park last Saturday, Hednesford Town were on their travels again in the BetVictor Premier Central League, this time to face Biggleswade Town. The Waders were in 12th place in the league, six points behind the fourth placed Pitmen with a game in hand prior to the game. Biggleswade are experiencing somewhat of an upheaval following the departure of manager Lee Allinson and half a dozen players to Hendon FC.
Unsurprisingly given the changes to the line-up forced on the home side the Pitmen started the game the stronger of the two sides with James Hurst firing over after ten minutes. Danny Glover was caught offside but minutes later after growing wise to the tactic managed to spring trap forcing a smart save from Kyle Forster.
The home side thought they had a penalty when Conrad Lucan went down in the area, only to be frustrated by the referee. Forster, making his debut in goal for the Waders, made another fine save this time keeping out Tom Elliott’s shot. The score remained even going into the halftime break despite the visitors having the majority of possession.

Biggleswade started the second half with intent going close twice in the opening minutes but could not capitalise on the momentum, with the Pitmen soon regaining control of the game. A double substitution from the visitors saw Elliot Hodge and Izak Reid replace Brown and Ben O’Hanlon. Reid came close to opening the scoring heading just wide from a Ben Bailey throw, which was flicked on by Reece King.
Trey Charles went one better for the Waders giving them the lead on 67 minutes, sending a low shot past Andy Wycherley. The home side continued to press following the goal as they looked to seal the win.
A foul from Jack Hallahan sparked a confrontation between numerous players from each side, the Pitmen midfielder was dismissed while Charles and Bailey were booked for their part in the aftermath. Wycherley was forced to come out of his area to clear a long ball down the middle, while King was booked for a late challenge as the ten men Pitmen became increasingly ragged in face of the home side’s numerical advantage. Wycherely was forced into a fine double save as Biggleswade sought to kill off the game.
