He is joined by former Pitmen assistant Larry Chambers in his departure, as club chairman Ian Dosser also leaves the Shropshire club.

Smith headed to Keys Park in 2010 alongside Chambers after being sacked by the Bucks, guiding the Pitmen to promotion in 2013.

He eventually headed back to the New Bucks head in 2015.

He helped the club avoid relegation last season, and was in the process of rebuilding his squad.

Reports suggest that the Bucks are set to receive a substantial investment that will secure its future, which was the catalyst for the change in management.

AFC Telford confirmed the news online:

"AFC Telford United today parted company with manager Rob Smith and assistant Larry Chambers." read the statement.

"The club would like to thank them for all their hard work during two challenging seasons in helping maintain our National League North Status.

"The club chairman Ian Dosser has resigned from his position with the football club this morning.

"Everyone at AFC Telford United would like to thank Ian for all his help over the years."
