Stratford 2 Halesowen 1 - Report

Halesowen Town put up a spirited display at promotion chasing Stratford and with a bit of luck and perhaps some better defending, could have got a point.

The Yeltz had been dealt a blow in the week when on loan winger Dan Sweeney was recalled from his loan spell by Solihull.

They started brightly enough, though Dan Platt had to be on his guard a couple of times before poor defending saw the visitors go one down, Dan Creaney marking his debut for Stratford after joining them from Coalville on loan with the opening goal.

On the half hour, Halesowen's Samuel Griffiths saw a header well save by Stratford goalkeeper Ross Etheridge but Platt also had to make a great save before the break from Kynan Isaac.

After the break, Jack Till for Halesowen fired over from 20 yards before Callum Mendez-Jones headed home from a corner to make it 1-1.

Etheridge had to make a good save from Callum Coyle as the Yeltz pressed for the winner but it was Stratford who got it on 77 when an unmarked Chris Cox headed home a Dan Creaney cross.

Platt was again called into action towards the end to save from Wilson Carvalho.
