Two second-half goals from Halesowen's leading striker James Roberts left Rushall without a win in nine games.

By contrast, improving Halesowen celebrated their third win of the week - all without conceding a goal - and they started the contest brightly.

On-loan Tobias Hayles-Docherty made a splendid 17th minute run down thebright, only for Roberts to just fail to make a proper connection with the cross. Roberts then had a couple of half chances on the Rushall goal after 20 minutes.

But the Pics soon settled to create the better chances in the remainder ofthe first half. Tyler Lyttle found Richard Brodie in space in the penalty area after 21 minutes, but he fired into the side-netting.

Liam Truslove's 29th minute shot fell just wide from the edge of the area and Truslove went even closer when he rattled the base of the post with a 20 yard shot in the 34th minute. Brodie then tracked along the edge of the penalty area before hitting a low shot just wide two minutes later.

After the goal-less first half, Brodie was almost on the end of a fine right-wing cross from Lyttle at the start of the second half and Roberts struck a shot into the arms of Slinn from the edge of the area at the opposite end.

The Yeltz took the lead in the 54th minute when lively Hayles-Docherty broke away down the right and squared the ball for Roberts to plant the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Home goalkeeper Cameron Gregory then made a good one-handed save to keep out Daniel Waldron in the 57th minute.

But it was danger-man Roberts who was on the mark again by placing past Slinn to double Halesowen's lead in the 68th minute after latching onto Lee Hughes' splendid cross from the right.

The Pics missed a golden opportunity to get back into the game when Waldron's weak 84th minute penalty was saved by Gregory down the centre of goal after Bradley Lewis was penalised for handling Brian Smikle's attempt on goal.
