Basement boys Sutton Coldfield also gained three points on them with a home win and with Halesowen having played at least one more game than the teams around them, it doesn't look good for The Yeltz.

They probably deserved a little bit more in terms of a goal after a battling second half performance but it was difficult to argue with the outcome.

Lancaster made the early running and took the lead on 17 minutes when Daniel Platt failed to deal with a free kick from Sam Bailey and Djabi Mamadu stooped to head in at the far post.

Halesowen did come back a little bit in the half after Serigne Diop replaced Kyle Morrison and Spencer Weir-Daley forced a save out of the Lancaster goalkeeper just before the break.

The visitors' pressure continued after the break as they forced a number of corners, Bradley Lewis seeing a shot tipped over, but they couldn't find a breakthrough.

Lancaster secured the points on 71 minutes when Billy Akrigg went on a mazy 60 yard run and shot home.

To compound the result, Halesowen had to play the last ten minutes a man down after Lewis was taken off injured, one of three casualties they sustained on the day.
