Halesowen Town 'can't afford to lose' Evo-Stik League six-pointer

Halesowen Town cannot afford to lose tomorrow's Evo-Stik League Premier Division six-pointer at Frickley Athletic, according to manager John Hill.

Only goal difference separates the Yeltz and a Frickley side who occupy the last of four relegation places at the bottom of the table.

Hill has bolstered his squad with the signing of former Rushall Olympic striker Mo Diop and hopes to bring in another couple of experienced heads for the trip to West Yorkshire.

"It being a six-pointer is definitely the case, so it's vitally important we don't lose the game," said Hill.

"You could look at the table and see the games in hand but we have some really tough fixtures to come, which we are aware of.

"The teams down the bottom are fighting for their lives and picking up points.

"We need to do the same because soon those games in hand will be gone and we will still be right in it."

Twelfth-placed Rushall Olympic must beat sixth-placed Buxton at Dales Lane tomorrow to give their fading play-off hopes a shot in the arm.

The Pics topped the division at the turn of the year, but the loss of top scorer Alex Reid to League One Fleetwood Town has hit them hard and they have won just one of nine league games since the turn of the year.

However, after opening 2017 with five consecutive defeats, they have also steadied the ship somewhat by winning one and drawing three of their last four.

Former Sporting Khalsa ace Craig Bannister scored on debut at Whitby last weekend after returning to the Pics and will be looking for more to help them close the seven-place and seven-point gap to the top five.

In First Division South, 14th-placed Chasetown host ninth-placed Bedworth United.
