On 19 minutes, Pond conceded a penalty for a foul on Kevin da Siva Bastos. Marshall converted the spot kick straight down the middle.

Chasetown were a whisker away from a leveller just after the midway point. Will Whieldon's free kick was on target but keeper Ross Durrant flapped at the ball and somehow got the ball over the bar.

George Cater was the closest to a Scholars equaliser just before the break. He drove into the 6 yard box but pulled his effort wide of the post.

The second half was very flat but eventually Chasetown registered their second effort towards goal. Ricky Bridge burst forward and teed up George Cater who fired into the side netting.

Ten minutes from time, Ilkeston broke quickly and despite the efforts from Pond to keep the ball out, Marshall’s effort crossed the line.
