Leading scorer Jack Langston was a whisker wide with a curling effort as Chasetown stepped up a gear for an equaliser.

Prescot doubled their lead against the run of play with a quick break down the left hand side and Josh Klein-Davies placed the ball beyond Pond.

Cables increased their lead before half time with another cross from the left and Daniel Flood looped a header back across the keeper.

George Cater tested the Cables keeper at the start of the second half and then Ben Barnes scuffed his clearance and Langston scored from long range.

The hosts then went down to ten men as James Edgar clipped the heels of Cater when he was clean through on goal. Will Whieldon’s resultant free kick was well held by Barnes.

Cables restored their three goal lead when Jimmy O’Neill was short with his header back to the keeper and Klein-Davies added his second.

Prescot added the fifth with a quick breakaway goal with Klein-Davies completing his hat trick after Pond had saved the initial effort.

Makeshift defender Nick Wellecomme then conceded a spot kick and Michael Monaghan fired beyond Pond to complete the rout.
