Roms were unfortunate not to take the lead with a Jordan Francis effort beat Curtis Pond and was cleared off the line by Mike O’Reilly.

The visitors drew first blood just before half time. Skipper Jack Langston earned a free kick 25 yards out and Will Wheldon curled a peach of a free kick past Sargeant.

Romulus levelled within minutes of the restart as Francis stole into the penalty area and fired beyond Pond.

Cater was denied the chance to regain the lead for the Scholars with a placed shot that was deflected narrowly past the post by the left boot of Sargeant.

Chasetown were pushing for the winner and Sargeant dived to his left to deny Muzzy Nduna who had beaten the Roms offside trap.

The hosts nicked it in the final minute as former Scholar Malachi Farquharson netted from a left wing corner.
