Chasetown take on Stocksbridge Steel (Dave Birt)

Chasetown went close on the quarter hour mark when keeper David Reay punched down and Ryan Wynter struck the base of the post.

A minute later the hosts took the lead when Richard Stirrup drilled a low shot past Curtis Pond

On the stroke of half-time Chasetown hit the woodwork again as Wynter’s header was flicked onto the post by Reay.

Just after the hour Stocksbridge extended their lead in somewhat controversial circumstances. Chasetown were appealing vehemently for a raised elbow from a Steels defender but play continued and Stirrup poked home his second.

The hosts quickly added an undeserved third with Rory Coleman teeing up Matthew Reay who shot past Pond from inside the penalty area.

After Chasetown created some chances the hosts capitalised on a defensive error Joe Lumsden slotted home for 4-0.

Reay made several late saves from Chris Baker and Chad Degville to preserve his clean sheet.
