Midland Premier outfit Tivi are in first qualifying round action at The Beeches tomorrow.

King has never got past this stage of the competition, although he has reached it twice before, and would love an upset.

“If you can get in the hat for the first qualifying round as a step five side, that’s pretty good,” he said.

“You’ve got win a couple of games for that to happen, so we’re very pleased. We’re really happy we’re there and hoping for a good day.

“Spalding are a level above, step four, and we had them watched on Monday.

“The report has come back and it’s frightening. I wish I hadn’t had them watched now!

“They’ve got some ex-pros there and it’s going to be really tough.

“But on the day, you’ve got to learn how to cope with it. We’ll see where that takes us.”

Tividale have beaten both Shifnal and AFC Wulfrunians to get to this point, bagging more than £2,000 in prize money.

They will get another £2,250 if they catch Spalding out.

“We’ve played four games in the league, won two, drawn one and lost one,” said King.

“It’s not been a bad start for us as we’ve had a lot of injuries and Covid issues. I’m really pleased.

“This is the highest I’ve ever got, the first qualifying round, in my time at Tividale. I’ve never been higher, so I’d love to do one more.

“We just want to make sure we have no regrets at quarter to five.”

King added: “If we play the way we’ve been playing, no matter what happens, I’ll be happy.”

Also in the Cup, Rushall Olympic are taking on Stafford Rangers at Dales Lane.

Stourbridge travel to Basford United, Sporting Khalsa host Gainsborough Trinity and Chasetown take on Barwell.

Halesowen play Ilkeston while Tividale’s Midland Premier rivals Stone Old Alleynians and Lichfield City face Anstey Nomads and Nuneaton Borough respectively.

Kidderminster Harriers are out to carry on their unbeaten run in National League North. They travel to Guiseley.
