Legion of goalscorers as the Sundats march on at summit
Five different players found the net as Wolverhampton Sunday League leaders Codsall Legion Sundats continued their perfect start to the season with a 5-0 win over Essington WMC.
Jordan Uppal, Josh Carvel, Jak Johns, Kieron Northwood and Giles Harvey were all on the mark for the Sundats, who sit top of Division One with four wins from four matches and are yet to concede a goal this term.
Emerald Athletic remain second, a point behind, after Kyle Pearson’s goal was enough to earn them a 1-0 win over Royal FC.
Wednesfield are third after edging a five-goal thriller with FC Academy Boys. Dale Blackham scored twice, while Scott Sandland was also on target as Wednesfield twice came from behind before taking victory.
Luke Whitehouse and Joe Faulkner were both on target for the Academy, who were left to rue an excellent performance from Wednesfield keeper Nick Lewis.
Enyoux Bognini was on the mark for Black Country Fusion but they had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Belgrade, who claimed a point courtesy of Lee Gray’s strike. Elsewhere, Old Oak were 4-2 winners over Churchill Royal Oak.
Punjab United fought back from a 3-1 half-time deficit to claim a 4-4 draw with Coven Santos in Division Two’s game of the day.
A goal from Joshua Humphreys and Keith Thomas’s double looked to have Santos in command, but Punjab responded impressively, with Elliot Penberthy, Damian Maciuga, Sukhraj Singh and Patryk Jasiorowski all finding the net.
There was no shortage of goals across the division, Bradmore Social claiming their first win of the season by edging a seven-goal thriller against Pilot.
Sean Broadway, Harry Charlesworth and Declan Gallagher all netted for Pilot, but they remain winless after goals from Josh Allen, Courtney Allen, Brett Hughes and Ryan Woolridge for Bradmore.
A Jordan Meades brace helped second-placed KT Rangers record a 3-1 victory over RG FC, while Sandwell Athletic stay top, thanks to a 6-2 win over Ryans Rhinos in which Adam Whitehouse bagged a hat-trick.
Dynamo 50 Stile saw their good run brought to a screeching halt by a 6-1 defeat to Barley Mow Wanderers. Sam Findell was on target for the Stile, but Simon Nunn, Marc Clifford and Kyle Thompson all netted two apiece for the Wanderers.
Leroy Coates was also at the double as Tipton Town Sundays continued their 100 per cent record at the top of Division Three with a 4-1 win over Wolverhampton Athletic.
ECC Sports remain in pursuit after edging past AFC Bradmore 3-2 thanks to Reece Potts’ brace, but Tettenhall lost ground when they could only draw 1-1 with Russell Athletic.
Kieran Large looked to have snatched the points for Tettenhall when he broke the deadlock inside the final 10 minutes but Kieran Russell struck late to earn his team a share of the spoils.
Wolverhampton Sports GNST are up to third after a 3-1 win over Dudley United, while Hill Top Rangers hammered bottom club Balls to Cancer 8-2, Jordan Parkes netting a hat-trick.
Kieron Miller also struck a treble as AFC Wolverhampton Olympic made it two wins from two in Division Four with a 6-3 victory over AE Wanderers.
Miller came off the bench in the second half to finally break the spirit of a determined Wanderers outfit.
Olympic are one of three teams in the division still with 100 per cent records. Jungle Juice sit top of the pile after making it five wins from five matches with a 4-0 win over Ashmore while New Pheasant, who have three wins from three, beat Coseley Tavern 5-1.
Second-placed AFC Red Lion recorded the biggest win of the weekend, their 8-3 thumping of Gornal Stags including a hat-trick for Dasko Hamod.
There were also wins for Warstones Wanderers City, WV Punjab and Perton.
AFC Willenhall continue to lead the way at the top of Division Five after goals from Adrian Swatman and Stu Morgan earned them a 2-0 win over Stoney Hill.
That was the division’s lowest-scoring match of the weekend with Raytheon recording the biggest victory courtesy of their 7-0 hammering of Tettenhall Athletic, in which seven different players found the net.
Braces for Chris Wilcox and Kieran Matthews helped Wolves Warriors continued their encouraging start with a 6-3 win over Down Syndrome Awareness, while Lee Coney hit two as Walsall Swifts were 5-2 winners over Toll House Athletic.
AJB Wanderers edged a tight match with Wednesbury Athletic 3-2, while Wednesbury Fusion were 3-0 winners over DY United.
