Trysull go clear at the top
League honours are very much on the agenda again for in-form Trysull Athletic, who extended their impressive early-season form with a fourth straight victory this week.
Athletic, who lifted the Chell Cup just prior to the start of the 2020/21 campaign, visited newcomers East Park in their latest Paycare Eastern section clash and ran out worthy 5-2 victors.
Having edged a narrow 2-1 interval advantage, Trysull took charge after the restart and made it a nap hand with efforts from Will Spruce, Dom Constable (both two) and Aaron Bolton. The replies were claimed by Luke Picken and Andrew Turvey.
It was a victory that enabled Trysull to move three points clear in the Paycare section, their nearest rivals now being Claregate Park Rangers after new boys Compton FC relinquished their unbeaten record at Essington AFC.
Free-scoring Claregate made it 26 goals in just four starts, seeing off visiting AFC Bloxwich 7-1, with Rodney Williams helping himself to a well taken treble. He was supported by Nathan Ratcliffe, Jordan Stephens, Dan Lawrence and Mark Habbashaw. Luke Oakley netted a consolation for Bloxwich.
FC Premier U21s also made it three league wins in four, running out 5-1 victors over visiting Wyrley Colts – efforts from Gianni Singh, Luke Arkinstall-Shore, Jake Smith and a Reagan Palethorpe double. The Colts’ response came from Luke Harrison.
Essington were back to winning ways with a hard-fought 3-1 success over previously unbeaten Compton FC – goals from Kieran Brown (two) and Brett Morris, with Manny Singh replying.
Moving up to fifth spot were Codsall Station after Liam Davies bagged a hat-trick, including two penalties, as his side got the better of visiting Black Country Fusion Development 4-1.
After conceding an early BCF goal, netted by Jamie Turner, Codsall turned the tables as Davies made no mistake with two spot-kicks.
Jack Garner increased the Station lead, before Davies nodded past the visiting keeper to round off the scoring.
Sedgley Sporting marched on in the Concentric Sales & Lettings Western section when securing their fourth straight league triumph.
They travelled a short distance to take on mid-table rivals AFC Sporting Gornal and ran out 7-1 winners as Dom Thompson and Leigh Edwards bagged doubles.
Giving the pairing good support were Gregg Poole and Alex Trout, with an own goal making it a nap hand. Chris Hunt netted AFC Sporting’s sole reply.
This latest success enabled Sedgley Sporting to open a two-point gap at the top of the Concentric Sales & Lettings Western section, after close rivals Woodside Inn slipped up 4-3 at home to CTS United, who claimed their third league success in four so far.
In a close encounter, CTS led early on, before Woodside bounced back to take a 2-1 advantage, only for the former to level matters by the break.
CTS notched a further double in the second period to take control and, although Woodside struck a third goal to force a tense finish, United held on to take maximum points to climb into the top four. On the mark for CTS were Owen Harris (two), Josh Baloucoune and Jay Crumpton, the replies from Joe Lawley, Adam West and an own goal.
Netherton Tigers took over second spot with a hard-fought 4-3 home success against FC Premier 2014. The Tigers conceded early on, before hitting back to lead 3-2 at the interval.
It was level pegging once more in the second period, before Netherton grabbed a crucial winner with 15 minutes remaining. On target for the Tigers were brothers Luke (two) and Kurt Fellows, with Dean Powers adding a fourth. Responding were Ernest Kot (two) and Will Bartlett.
Having opened the campaign with three successive defeats, Clinton Cup holders Sedgley Rangers made it two wins in as many weeks, running out 5-2 away victors over Coseley FC with Tyler Goodyear (two), Brad Ormerod, Joe Waterfield and Ed Shone hitting the mark.
It was three wins in five for Wrens Nest Rangers as they saw off visiting Sporting Black Country 4-0, the scoring shared by Tom Gwinnell, Jae Fitzpatrick, Jacob Alexander and Jordan Bernard. Rangers have moved up to fifth spot as a result of this latest success.
In the remaining Western section fixture, Dudley Rangers United and Blades FC shared four goals and the spoils as Nathan Derrick and Albie Turner netted for the former, Jack Hill obliging with a double in reply.
Three fixtures were played in the Advanced Recruit Over-30s Eastern section and Michael McFarland stole the limelight with a well-taken treble as Boca Seniors emerged 4-1 winners at Old Boys United. James Adams rounded off the scoring for the victors, as United relied on an own goal for their sole reply.
The scoring was shared by four players as AFC Broadlands got the better of visiting Black Country Fusion, for whom Larry Adeyanju fired a double. Securing the points for the hosts were Luke Thomas, Jack Perry, Jordan Holmes and Mathew Brotherton.
