Goals from Ellis Blakemore, Louie Mason, Ben Novis and substitute Cameron Osborne wrapped up the points at home as Wednesfield got off to the perfect start in the league on Saturday.

Tonight they welcome Smethwick, who lost 1-0 at home to Bewdley Town at the weekend – making it two consecutive league losses after they began a week earlier.

In a six-goal thriller at Bilston Town Community, the hosts emerged victorious over Wolverhampton Sporting Community.

Chad Birch and Callum Devlin got the goals for Sporting, but strikes from Ben Podmore, Liam Matthews and a Kieron Miller brace secured the win for Dean Gill’s Bilston side.

They now face Shawbury United at home tomorrow night, while Sporting travel to Worcester Raiders this evening.

Dudley Sports rescued a point with a last-gasp equaliser in injury time.

The hosts found themselves 2-1 down in the dying embers of the game, scoring their only goal through David Meese.

Then, in the 95th minute, substitute Tyrone Clarke made himself a hero with a late strike to earn his side a point on the opening day. Tonight they welcome the challenge of Littleton, who beat Wolverhampton Casuals 5-2 at the weekend.

Despite goals from Scott Broadway and Joe Clarke, the visitors fell to the heavy defeat and will now host Darlaston Town tonight. Town also lost their opening game, in a narrow 3-2 defeat at home to Shawbury United. Andre James and Ricardo Ricketts got their goals.

Meanwhile, Cradley Town lost 2-0 at home to league leaders Shifnal Town and do not play in midweek. Dudley Town’s game with OJM Black Country Rangers was postponed due to a positive Covid-19 test in the OJM squad.

OJM are also not playing in midweek, while Dudley are away at Wem tonight.
