Boro – yet to pick up a win in the Northern Premier this season – convincingly triumphed in last night’s Cup replay with the higher-league Harriers.

Dan Burns gave Stafford the lead 28 minutes in – an advantage that was doubled six minutes before half-time when Josh Green found the top corner from the edge of the penalty area.

Ashley Chambers had the perfect chance to get Harriers back into the tie with a 71st-minute penalty, only to smash it high over the bar.

And when Rangers were awarded their own spot-kick inside the final 10 minutes, Jake Charles showed the visitors how it should be done to set up a tie at Stourbridge on Saturday, October 5.

They won’t be joined by Northern One South East side Chasetown, after they lost 2-1 to National North opponents Leamington.

The Scholars looked like they were about to bridge a two-division gap and shock their visitors last night courtesy of Will Whieldon’s first-half strike.

Leamington had Joe Clarke red-carded 66 minutes in, before Lewis Riley-Stewart was also sent off seven minutes from the end.

And Kyle Anderson equalised in the final minute to force extra-time.

Levi Reid hit the bar for Chasetown, but Connor Taylor won it for the visitors with just two minutes of extra-time remaining.

Meanwhile, Montel Gibson scored twice to secure Halesowen Town three Southern Central One points at Bedworth United in a 2-1 triumph.
