City are playing in the first qualifying round for the first time in their history and take on a club who have previously reached the first round proper nine times, most recently in 2004/05.

Midland One outfit Lichfield have already eliminated higher-league Midland Premier sides Highgate United and Haughmond in the preliminary rounds, but the opposition takes another step up in Southern Central One Halesowen.

“We’re definitely excited,” said Lichfield boss Jay Hawkins. “We look forward to every game, but there’s a special element to the FA Cup games.

“We’ve got a supporters’ coach coming to the game, and I think that’s almost full, with the potential to add another coach.

“It’s no secret we’re huge underdogs and it’d be foolish to look further past Halesowen, but I’ve told the lads we’re a good side ourselves and on our day we can beat anyone.”

Rushall Olympic will hope to continue their positive start to the season with a win against Sheffield FC in the FA Cup.

The Pics – second in Southern Central Premier – will look to bounce back from their first defeat of the season by overcoming the world’s oldest football club in the world’s oldest cup competition.

“We’re in a good place right now and there is a nice buzz around the club,” said manager Liam McDonald. “We’re looking forward to taking our form into the FA Cup on Saturday and making progress in this special competition.”

Stafford Rangers manager Alex Meechan is hopeful of a good Cup run like their run to the second round proper in 2006/07.

Boro – who are yet to win this season and haven’t scored in their past four games – take on Northern Premier rivals Mickleover Sports at Marston Road.

He said: “Everyone in Stafford wants a good Cup run because if you do then there is the potential for a massive gate and get people down the ground who haven’t been for a while.”

Chasetown – who reached the third round proper in 2007/08 – will be favourites to beat lower-level opposition in Staveley.

Hednesford Town will also be favourites when they travel to Leicestershire to take on lower-league Lutterworth following a good start to the season.

Stourbridge will be in for a tight test in their tie at Bromsgrove Sporting, who they beat 2-1 in the Southern Central Premier on August Bank Holiday Monday.

The Glassboys memorably beat League One Northampton Town on their way to the third round proper in 2016/17.

Kidderminster Harriers – who don’t enter the FA Cup until the next round – make the long trip to rock-bottom Blyth Spartans in their National League North game.

John Pemberton’s side, hamstrung by an ongoing takeover at Aggborough, are hoping to bounce back following two league defeats on the spin.
