Dean Gill has promised Wolves Casuals will throw ‘everything they’ve got’ at Romulus as they look to pull off an FA Cup upset tomorrow.

Casuals, from the West Midlands Premier Division, travel to Sutton Coldfield to tackle Roms, who play one level higher in the Midland League Premier, in the extra preliminary round.

A prize of £2,250 and a home tie against Market Drayton Town is on offer to the winners, though Gill admits his team will need to be at their best to stand any chance.

He said: “We are absolutely the underdogs in this tie. I went to watch Romulus play Gresley on Monday night and they have some very good players in attack.

“If I am being honest, they are precisely the kind of team I don’t like to face. Not many teams play the way they do. But we will give it our best shot. There is a lot at stake. It is big money for us and big money for Romulus. We will be throwing everything we have got at it.”

Casuals will again be without Josh Jones, Kane Cork and Joe Daley for the tie, but Gill said: “There will be no excuses. We have had plenty of time to prepare.”

The tie is one of several in the region as the world’s oldest cup competition kicks off for another season.

Wolves Sporting will also be hoping to strike a blow for the West Midlands League when they visit Midland Premier outfit Heather St Johns, while Wednesfield travel to Tividale.

Sporting Khalsa boss Ian Rowe will, meanwhile, aim to continue his own impressive cup record against Rugby Town.

Rowe was in charge at Gornal Athletic when they dumped the Warwickshire club out of the competition in 2011.

Walsall Wood visit Haughmond in an all-Midland League Premier tie, while AFC Wulfrunians visit Racing Club Warwick and Lye Town face a lengthy trip to Leicestershire, where they play Lutterworth Town of the United Counties League.

In the West Midlands Premier, Dudley Sports will aim to make it two wins from two when they host Pershore Town.

Black Country Rangers also have a 100 per cent record to protect at Bilston Town, while Dudley Town go to Littleton and Smethwick Rangers host Cradley Town. A big day is, meanwhile, in store when Darlaston Town (1874) host West Midlands Premier Division action for the first time at Bentley Leisure Pavilion.

Formed after the original Darlaston Town folded in 2013, the phoenix club were promoted from Division One last season and are unbeaten since November. Shifnal Town are the visitors.
