Stourbridge to start interviews for new boss
Stourbridge chairman Andy Pountney says interviews to find a successor to boss Gary Hackett will begin this weekend as the club look forward to an ‘exciting new era’.
Hackett and his staff stepped down at the end of the season after the Glassboys were beaten in the Southern League Central play-off semi-finals by Alvechurch.
It brought to an end a remarkable 16 years at the War Memorial Ground where they reached the FA Cup first round and beyond five times.
Pountney revealed the club will begin speaking to successful candidates this weekend before mulling over a final decision next week.
“We’re still getting a few CVs in but we’re looking to begin interviewing this weekend,” said Pountney.
“Then we’re hoping to announce the new manager after our end of season awards next Sunday.
“The awards will be a celebration of Gary and his team for their time here. We’ll get that out the way and then announce the new manager early the following week.”
The chairman continued: “The candidates have been very good, very impressive. It’s exciting times for the club and we’re delighted with everybody that’s applied.
“It’s a new thing for us all but one we’re all quite excited about.
“Gary Hackett did a phenomenal job with us and we don’t want to undo any of the hard work he’s done. We want to continue with the standards and improve.
“We’re excited to go into the new era for the club.”
