St Neots Town 1 Halesowen Town 1 - Report
Halesowen ended their season with a share of the points at fellow relegation
victims St Neots.
The Yeltz made a shaky start on their first ever visit to Rowley Park and
slipped behind against a youthful St Neots outfit after just four minutes
when Joey Rider pushed forward and played a through ball into the penalty
area for Dan Trendall to slot the ball past visiting goalkeeper Dan Platt.
Joe Sutton almost doubled the lead for the Saints three minutes later but he
put a good chance wide of the post after breaking free.
Home goalkeeper James Philp beat Aaron Gilpin to the ball in the 8th minute
and Aaron Birch's shot was deflected away from a 16th minute corner. But the
rest of the first half developed into a midfield battle with few chances as
the goal-shy Yeltz once again lacked an end product in front of goal.
The Yeltz improved markedly after the interval and soon equalised in the
52nd minute when Samir Nabi broke free and although he hit the post, the
ball found the net after striking Philp.
Visiting substitute Sam Dallow struck a rebound over the bar in the 65th
minute after Philp saved from substitute Lee Hughes following a good ball
from Enock Ekongo. Nabi then blazed over the bar in the 76th minute after
further good work from Dallow and Hughes before Yeltz player-manager Hughes
curled wide with five minutes remaining. But Halesowen goalkeeper Platt was
on hand to make two late saves to keep the scores level as the Yeltz bowed
out of the Premier Division Central.
