It was the home side who came out of the blocks with purpose as they rattled the woodwork within the opening four minutes.

We soon started to get into our stride and Ashley Sammons forced a smart save out of the home ‘keeper before shortly afterwards he delivered a free-kick into the danger zone which caused problems for the home defence.

Heath in the home goal did well on 24 minutes to tip a delightful free-kick from Tyler Lyttle, which was destined for the top corner, over the crossbar.

As we continued to ask the questions, a neat move ended with Sammons dragging wide before the goal that we had threatened finally arrived on the stroke of half-time when Orrin Pendley planted a firm header home from a free-kick out wide.

We were able to double our advantage on the hour-mark when a weak headed clearance from the home side saw the ball fall to Ben Lund who guided home beyond the reach of the ‘keeper.

The home side were finding it difficult to get into their stride against a hard-working and well-organised Pics and when they did, they found Joe Slinn in reliable form to keep them at bay.

Sammons went close again with 20 minutes to go, but genuine chances were few and far between at as the clock ticked down.

It was a deserved three points for Liam McDonald’s side as we secured what we hope will be a catalyst for a positive run of results to keep us moving up the table.
