FA Cup qualifying - Matlock 1 Halesowen 2 - Report
Lee Hughes’ second half strike took Halesowen through to the second qualifying round.
It was a deserved victory for Halesowen who took the lead with a neat goal from James Roberts with a seventh minute strike.
Hughes could have added to it on 22 minutes but dragged his shot wide.
Roberts had another chance before half time as Halesowen continued to press.
Matlock got back on terms with a penalty’s on 57 minutes but Hughes made no mistake on 71 to send Yelt through 2-1.
