Bilston finished in 11th place last term but rounded off the campaign by winning the Smedley Crook Cup.

And manager Scott Hamilton is hoping to take that momentum into the new season.

The Queen Street outfit finished off their pre-season with a goalless draw against Darlaston Town.

Hamilton has brought in a raft of new signings but says their pre-season has been ‘up and down’.

Hamilton, who has been manager for two-and-a-half years, said: “It has been up and down because of players I have tried to get in, and players have gone somewhere else.

“I have not been short of numbers but I have been short of quality.”

It’s all change at Wednesfield as they head into the season with fresh squad of players and a and new manager.

Danny Carter has stepped into the hot-seat following the exit of former boss Dean Gill.

Carter has been pleased with pre-season with his new-look gelling well.

He said: “Pre-season has been really good. We have had a good few performances. We had a good team-bonding session in Barmouth.

“It is a brand new team, there is nothing left at Wednesfield to build on. Dean took everyone to Casuals so we have got a brand new team playing together.”

Asked about his hopes for the new season, Carter said: “It is a tough one, we are going to have a go. “It is a brand new team so we will see how they gel. It is a tough start against Haughmond on Saturday so we will see how we fair.”
