Late goal sink Wolves Sporting
Wolverhampton Sporting were edged out in their bid to add another piece of silverware to their collection.
After winning the West Midlands League Premier Division title and League Cup, Andy Paddock’s men were hoping to claim the JW Hunt Cup.
But they were beaten by Midland League outfit Atherstone Town in a hard fought final at AFC Wulfrunians’ CKW Stadium last night.
A goal from substitute Liam Kirton six minutes from time settled the 92nd final of the competition in Atherstone’s favour. Sporting saw Tom Hill sent off in the closing stages.
