A frenetic opening from both sides saw Stoke almost open the scoring in the first minute with Greenige forcing a smart low save from James Wren in the Pitmen goal. Shenton was next to go close to breaking the deadlock when his effort came back off the bar.

However it would be Hednesford who took the lead in the 14th minute when Danny Glover fired home at the far post from Lawrie's corner.

Despite having the advantage the Pitmen lived dangerously, with a smart move finding Greenige on the left who was denied by the woodwork.

Both teams continued to threaten in an entertaining first half, with chances falling for both sides.

The second half began in a similar vein to the first with Stoke's pace asking questions of the home side. In the 59th minute a Tre Pemberton cross came back off the crossbar to make it a hat trick of near misses for the visitors. The Pitmen defended resolutely and played some intelligent football when in possession of the ball. A run and cross on the right wing from Tom Thorley gave Glover the chance to extend the lead but his headed effort drifted wide of the post.

From a Hednesford corner referee Mr Yates judged that Reece King was brought down by a Stoke defender and awarded a penalty. Danny Glover claimed his brace from the spot with a crisp finish low to the right of Josef Bursik in the 79th minute to send the Pitmen through to the Final at the bet.365 Stadium.
