Number Nine derby: Halesowen Town plan investigation after flare thrown during Stourbridge clash
A club investigation will be launched after a flare was thrown onto the pitch following a non-league derby in the Black Country.
The smoke bomb was thrown from the away end following hosts Halesowen Town’s 1-0 win over Stourbridge FC at The Grove on Saturday.
And Glassboys’ fans also appeared to damage fencing in the closing stages of the encounter.
Halesowen are now planning to hold an investigation into the flare throwing incident.
However, today a Yeltz spokesman said the club did not want to make an official comment.
It is not the first time the Number 9 Derby has been marred by flares being set off.
Extra security measures were brought in for the clash at the weekend following two smoke bombs being thrown at the club’s previous meeting, at Stourbridge, in October.
This included football league stewards being brought in to work alongside Halesowen’s regular stewards, and random searches on entry.
Ahead of the game a Yeltz statement said: “Anyone caught using any pyrotechnics before, during or after the game will be ejected and could face a banning order and prosecution.
“The Number 9 derby is one of the best supported non-league games let’s make it enjoyable for everyone.”
