Rushall Olympic 1 Workington 0 - Report
A fantastic solo goal from Danny Waldron was enough to secure three points for Rushall Olympic as they defeated Workington 1-0 at Dales Lane.
Connor Tinnion should perhaps have done better with a chance on five minutes, when he blazed over from a few yards out after a cross from Dave Symington.
It was all quiet from then until Danny Waldron tested away keeper Aaron Taylor with a rasping volley on 43 minutes. Josh Hawker whipped in a deep cross and Waldron's effort was brilliantly tipped over by Taylor.
The opener came barely a minute later, with Waldron again the man of the moment. The forward evaded a couple of strong challenges as he danced through the Workington defence before slotting in the bottom corner to make it 1-0 on 44 minutes.
There was a chance for both sides in the space of 60 seconds on 57 minutes. First, Gaz Singh turned his marker and forced a save from Taylor before Workington's Matt Douglas got on the end of a corner to see his shot well saved by Joe Slinn.
On 65 minutes Douglas got on the end of another corner. This time it was a header that was kept out by Slinn.
Waldron could have put the game out of sight on 87 minutes when the goal scorer was played in down the left. With three Pics players to square to, Waldron instead decided to shoot, and his effort was deflected wide.
