Neil Kitching admitted the better side won as Stafford Rangers' winless run was stretched to four games in defeat at play-off chasing Farsley Celtic.

A scrappy game in North Yorkshire was settled by Ryan Watson's deflected free-kick early in the second half.

"We've huffed and puffed, gone through the motions, but done nowhere near enough to get anything out of the game," said Kitching.

"They were physically stronger, technically better, and deserved to win."

In an open start, Rangers were largely under the cosh, Celtic hitting the bar through Nathan Cartman's clever lob, though the visitors did force the first two saves, Graeme McKibbin keeping out Jordaan Brown's header and Kyle Perry's strike - which should have been a goal.

Adam Whitehouse kept Boro in the game with two point-blank saves at the end of the first half to keep out first Watson and then Cartman.

In the 52nd minute, Celtic made their dominance count as Boro gave away a cheap free-kick on the edge of the area and Watson thumped it through the wall, from which it took a big deflection to leave Whitehouse with little chance of making another save.

Cartman almost sealed the win late on when he went through, but put his shot too close to Whitehouse.
