Coalville Town 0 Stafford Rangers 0 - Report
Stafford Rangers picked up their first point in January after playing out a goalless draw at Coalville Town.
Neil Kitching’s side broke a spell of three league defeats but would have felt that three points were for the taking in Leicstershire.
Rangers could have had an early penalty when after a spell of early pressure Karl Hawley went down as goalkeeper Matt Coton came racing out, but referee Richard Ely waved away the appeals.
The Ravens’ responded with skipper Steve Towers testing Adam Whitehouse before Dan Creaney’s shot was blocked before being scrambled clear.
The hosts almost had a fortunate opener as Nat Watson’s deep corner looked to be heading goalwards only for Adam Whitehouse to tip his effort over the bar.
Boston United loanee Tyrell Waite responded for Neil Kitching’s side but sent his shot just wide from outside the box.
Watson’s corner again had Rangers in trouble before the break this time finding the head of Dan Creaney whose free header was put over from close range.
Kitching’s side started the second half brightly and forced Coton into two saves firstly from Jack Sherratt and then Osebi Abadaki.
Kieran Morris then had a golden chance to put the Boro ahead heading wide in front of goal.
The Raven’s goalkeeper Coton handed Josh Craddock another opening after scuffing his clearance but redeemed himself by saving his shot.
However, they nearly lost the point at the death as Towers sent two deep crosses into the box which both evaded everybody as the game ended even.
