The Pics are third-from-bottom and are yet to win on their travels in the league – and are fresh off being dumped out of the FA Cup.

They lost a second qualifying round replay 2-1 against AFC Mansfield at Dales on Tuesday night, after drawing 0-0 away on Saturday.

Thomas, who has had goalkeeper Dan Crane and winger Luke Bottomer leave this week, insists Tuesday’s showing was unacceptable, and he wants a reaction.

He said: “It is going to be a tough game for us, but I am looking for a response from my players.

“There was a lack of desire, work-rate and commitment on Tuesday and it is not acceptable.

“We need them to be able to do the nitty-gritty and take on board what they are being told.”

Thomas, who used to play for Burnley and Southampton, became Rushall chief this summer and has assembly a fairly young squad.

He added: “They have the ability and now they have to prove it.

“There would be no better way to bounce back than by winning at the league leaders and we’ll be going there determined to do that.

“Witton have started the season well, but it is about what we do and focussing on getting things right.”

Stafford Rangers are also in for a tough test, heading to second-placed Shaw Lane.

Boro have gone three games without a win in the league and are three places above the Pics, in 18th.

Second-from-bottom are Halesowen Town, who enjoyed a much-welcome 2-1 victory at Grantham Town on Tuesday.

The welcome third-placed Warrington Town to The Grove.

Stourbridge are fourth and welcome Lancaster City to the War Memorial Ground.

Hednesford Town have won two and lost two in the league since Rob Smith took the reins once again, and they go to Mickleover Sports.

And Smith has had a clear out, letting four players go – Matt Martin, Jordan Nadat, Devarn Green and Stephen Palmer.

Meanwhile, in the Evo-Stik First Division South, 10th-placed Chasetown, who have re-signed striker Ryan Wynter this week, head to Spalding United.
