Wednesfield FC secure Premier Division promotion after Wembley appeal
Wednesfield FC have dramatically secured promotion to the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division after winning a Wembley appeal.
Members of the club's hierarchy travelled to Wembley earlier this month to appeal the decision against promoting them to the WMRL's top tier.
Dean Gill's side finished as runners-up in Division One last season, thus securing promotion.
But following inspection on their Cottage Ground earlier in the season the club were denied promotion.
After lodging an appeal and meeting FA chiefs at the headquarters in London, the governing body agreed to send down independent inspectors to the Cottage Ground.
The inspector was sent to determine whether the stadium meets the requirements of the Premier Division.
And in a club statement, Wednesfield tonight announced: "Tonight it has been confirmed by the FA that Wednesfield Football Club has won its appeal and are promoted to the West Midlands Premier League."
