Hednesford sign up duo from Redditch
Hednesford Town boss Liam McDonald has signed James Mutton and George Carline from former club Redditch United.
Mutton was key for Redditch last season in the Southern League Premier, helping them achieve 19 clean sheets as they finished second in the division before losing in the play-offs.
On the ex-Birmingham City and Sutton Coldfield man, McDonald said: "I'm delighted to be able to bring Jim to the club.
"He was always going to be one of the players that I wanted to sign. "He is an excellent defender and one that was crucial during my time at Redditch.
"I know that there were a number of clubs higher up the leagues looking at Jim and I'm delighted to be able to bring him to Keys Park."
Meanwhile, McDonald feels box-to-box midfielder Carline will give the Pitmen 'something different' and has backed him to become a fan favourite.
He added: "George is a player that offers an all-round attacking threat and scores his fair share of goals as well.
"He is very much a player that will become a fans' favourite and gives us something different with him, having scored double figures with his head last season.
"Again, he is another player that was gaining substantial interest from teams in the National League.
"I'm really pleased to have signed him as he was a pivotal part of the Redditch team along with Jim and they are really positive captures for us."
Both have signed one-year contracts at Keys Park and further signings are due to be confirmed in the coming days.
Meanwhile, midfielder Tom Thornley has agreed a deal to remain at Hednesford.
Thorley, who signed for the club in November 2013, will also take on the role as club captain.
The 26-year-old said: "It is an absolute honour to be named as captain of Hednesford Town Football Club.
"I have enjoyed my time immensely since arriving at the club and I'm firmly looking forward to the coming season."
