Hednesford Town ended their home campaign with a goalless draw against Bradford Park Avenue that will be quickly forgotten.

After a quiet opening it was the visitors who had the first chance when the ball fell at the feet of striker Lamnin Colley.

He was inside the penalty area after 14 minutes, but fired straight at Hednesford's Lloyd Ransome.

Paul Ennis then blazed well over the bar a minute later when well placed on the edge of the box for the Pitmen.

Luke Woodland fired wide of the target for the visitors after 22 minutes, before Dyan Mottley-Henry put his shot from just inside the box into the side netting seven minutes later.

Ransome was called into action to deal with a speculative effort from Woodland soon afterwards, before Hednesford had the last effort of the half when Tom Peers fired a shot from 30 yards that was easily saved.

The second period was equally slow to get going and it took until a minute before the hour mark, until there was a shot in anger as Hednesford's Danny Glover saw a free-kick stopped on the line by visiting goalkeeper Ryan Jones.

The home side almost forced the opener after 67 minutes when a corner into the box was headed down by Francino Francis to Jonathan Royle, but his low driven effort was turned away for another corner.

After 75 minutes, Colley saw another tame effort easily kept out by Ransome before the last chance of the game fell to the home side with eight minutes remaining.

A long ball downfield saw Peers race on to it, before trying to bring the ball under control.

Although his first effort was blocked by defender Ryan Qualter, the ball fell kindly to the striker again but he fired wide of the post.

A game that had seen nothing in it almost ended on a sour note as in stoppage time there was a coming together of both sets of players.

It came after Peers had tripped the advancing Mottley-Henry, which saw both players being booked.
