Report: Workington 1 Stourbridge 1
Stourbridge assistant manager Jon Ford has labelled tonight's home clash with Ashton United "a huge game" after the play-off chasers were held to a third straight league draw.
Having taken a first-half lead through Sean Geddes' free-kick at fourth-placed Workington on Saturday, the Glassboys were pegged back by Joe McGee's header.
The result saw Stour slip to sixth in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier, replaced in the top five by Ashton United who visit the War Memorial Ground this evening.
Ford said: "It's a huge game – I can't wait. Hopefully, we will have recovered from the Workington game because it's a very long trip.
"Overall we can consider this a well-earned point but I think we deserved to win. If you look at the chances we created and our overall performance, we were the better team."
Both sides struggled to impose themselves but it was the Glassboys who went closest to breaking the deadlock on 26 minutes.
Karl Hawley's glancing header from Chris Lait's cross was fumbled onto the bar by Reds goalkeeper Jonny Jamieson and grabbed at the second attempt.
The visitors were rewarded six minutes before the break as Geddes' clever 30-yard free-kick crept inside his near post.
But Workington dragged themselves level on 49 minutes when McGee headed in a corner.
