Stocksbridge Park Steels 2 Chasetown 0
Chasetown suffered a setback in their bid to claim an Evo-Stik Division One South play-off place in one of the few fixtures to survive the rain.
The Scholars slipped to sixth place after a 2-0 defeat to Stocksbridge Park Steels in Sheffield.
Steels striker Joe Lumsden saw a long-range effort blocked by defender Jon Haynes early on and then Chase leading scorer Paul Sullivan headed narrowly over the bar from a Jed Davies corner.
The home side took the lead on the half-hour.
When Steels goalkeeper David Reay saved from George Washbourne, Stocksbridge opened up Chasetown with a long ball and Lumsden drove the ball beyond shot-stopper John Bateman.
Chasetown went close to an equaliser 10 minutes after the break. Substitute Nick Turton teed up Sullivan who in turn fed Washbourne, but Reay spread himself to block.
Harrison Biggins struck the crossbar with a free-kick midway through the half, with Bateman beaten.
But Stocksbridge doubled their lead 10 minutes from time, when Scott Ruthven reached a through ball before Bateman to prod it into the net.
