Stourbridge 5 Hyde United 1
Assistant manager Jon Ford has demanded "more of the same" from his Stourbridge side after their emphatic 5-1 demolition of Hyde United.
Goals from Karl Hawley, Matt Dodd and Chris Lait ended the contest by half-time, before Justin Richards and Ashley Vincent rounded off an impressive victory.
It was the perfect way for the Glassboys to overcome the disappointment of their midweek defeat to play-off rivals Barwell.
But Ford expects his players to be just as ruthless when they entertain struggling Marine tonight.
He said: "It was the perfect day apart from conceding right at the end. I think the players knew they owed the club a performance after the Barwell defeat. But we need the same level of performance against Marine."
Hyde arrived at Stour searching for their first win in three months but the writing was on the wall for the Tigers after just four minutes when Hawley opened the hosts' account from six yards.
Hawley then sent a shot over the crossbar and a last-ditch tackle stopped him getting through on goal shortly after.
Ayrton Bevins almost clawed the Tigers level, but his strike was brilliantly turned over by keeper Matt Gould.
Stour responded by doubling their lead on 22 minutes through Lait's 30-yard strike. In the 29th minute, Bevins was again allowed time to get in a shot but it went wide.
Two minutes later, Lait turned provider with the midfielder picking out Dodd to head in from close range.
The visitors twice went close before the break, with Gould saving one effort and a lob by Adam Jones bouncing off the top of the Glassboys' crossbar.
However, Richards added a fourth six minutes after the break to put the match beyond the visitors.
And Vincent, recently recruited from Worcester City, thrashed a sensational volley past keeper Sam Vince from the edge of the box after Richards had laid the ball on from Hawley's pass into the box.
Still there was time for Ben Holmes to produce his own contender for goal of the match, with a stunning 25-yard strike as Hyde grabbed a late consolation. The Glassboys are eighth in the Evo-Stik Premier.
