Aldershot 1 Kidderminster Harriers 0

Kidderminster Harriers' miserable season continued as the National League's basement side slipped to their 18th defeat of the campaign.

It was the eighth by a solitary goal in a game that they failed to score in. Their winless run away from home in the league stretched to 22 games.

Charlie Walker's sublime 50th-minute strike settled the outcome of a game that lacked little in passion and commitment, but was shy of quality in the final third.

Harriers controlled the game for long periods but, as has been the case this season, a lack of a quality striker and penetration in front of goal proved decisive in the end.

Interim manager Colin Gordon praised his side's ability, but was frustrated as the team slipped to a seventh straight league defeat.

He insisted: "The level of football we played, particularly in the first-half, was not of this level.

"We passed the ball and passed them off the park and showed an unbelievable desire, there was so much composure to our play and there were some immense performances.

"We have now just got to be able to create movement from in behind but we've dominated the game."

The home side defended with passion and it was not until the 11th minute that Harriers created their first chance of note.

Arthur Gnahoua striding past two challenges to fire a long-range effort that deflected off Joe Oastler, giving goalkeeper Phil Smith time to re-position and dive full length to concede a corner.

Harriers enjoyed their most penetrative period five minutes before the break.

Gnahoua linked up with Zaine Francis-Angol and the defender's left wing cross found Elton Ngwatala, whose effort was blocked by Damon Lathrope.

Next up was Whitfield who sent two efforts wide as the home side struggled to contain the free flowing movement of the visitors.

Aldershot had not recorded a shot on goal in the first half but that all changed after the break.

Harriers were pressing on the halfway line when Sean McGinty intercepted a ball intended for Jared Hodgkiss and sent Rhys Browne away.

With Hodgkiss out of position, Browne released Walker to provide an angled precise shot across Dean Snedker to give the hosts the lead.

Browne and Omar Beckles went close to extending that lead but Harriers responded, Gnahoua fired into the side netting and Whitfield saw an effort roll just wide.
