Sutton Coldfield 2 Rushall Olympic 0
Rushall Olympic fell to their second Evo-Stik Northern Premier League defeat in a row as they lost at Sutton Coldfield Town.
Richard Sneekes' side dropped below their opponents into 14th place in the table before this afternoon's home match with Stourbridge.
The Pics started promisingly at Coles Lane on Saturday and, in their first attack, Luke Benbow shot wide from a narrow angle before Andre Brown failed to get any power behind his shot from close range.
The Royals made their opponents pay with their first attack of the game as Dan O'Callaghan's cross from the left was headed down by Iyseden Christie for Aaron Forde to slot in after six minutes.
Rushall took just 13 minutes to restore parity as James Wren, in the Sutton goal, brought down Alex Reid in the box and Benbow stepped up to convert.
The visitors put Sutton under pressure for a spell as Brown missed two more relatively straightforward chances and Reid, Jack Duggan and Benbow all forced saves from Wren.
Ten minutes after half-time and the hosts were back in front, as O'Callaghan sneaked in around the back post as the Pics defence stopped and he rounded goalkeeper Dean Coleman and finished from 10 yards.
Duggan almost finished a superb team passing move he started from the back.
But his header from Malachi Lavelle-Moore's cross struck the base of the post and ran clear before any team-mates could take advantage.
There was still one more chance for the away side to leave with what would have been a deserved point, but that chance fell to Reid at the back post who squandered his header to keep Sutton in front.
Defensive kingpin Duggan put in a man-of-the-match performance, but his efforts were not enough to save Rushall from defeat.
