Pictures and video: Harriers net first win
A late goal from Jordan Murphy gave Kidderminster Harriers a 1-0 home win over Woking – their first National League win of the season.
The long overdue victory lifted them off the bottom of the table and was a timely tonic, after their embarrassing FA Cup defeat at Stourbridge the previous Saturday.
Murphy's 87th-minute header ended his side's grim winless run which stretched back to March 28 and a 3-1 home win over Braintree Town.
Aggborough head coach Dave Hockaday said: "That win was for the fans. After the Stourbridge debacle we needed to repair their faith.
"They came in good numbers again which is incredible. They stayed with us and it looked like we missed one or two great chances, but the boys stayed with it and deserved to win.
"I made a couple of changes at half-time but I'm so happy for everyone at Kidderminster. We sound as if we've achieved something, but we need to give the fans more.
"That's our first win in 19 and we need a reality check."
Harriers, who kept a clean sheet for the first time this season, had a great chance to nudge ahead on the quarter-hour mark.
Matthew Barnes-Homer, back at Aggborough for a second spell following a loan move from Aldershot Town, fired his first-time volley over the bar.
Hockaday made a couple of changes for the second half – newcomer Dino Fazlic and Matt Young on for Luke Maxwell and Lathaniel Rowe-Turner – and gace the Cards a more testing examination.
Murphy mis-kicked in front of goal on 49 minutes and then goalkeeper Nick Hamann came to Woking's rescue shortly afterwards, when he managed to stop a Ben Whitfield shot with his legs.
Adam Cunnington, Dan Holman and John Goddard went close for the visitors, before Murphy pounced with a glancing header following an excellent cross from Young.
