Two goals in two minutes gave the Pics the half-time advantage, even though Salford had had the majority of the chances.

A trio of headers were missed in the early stages by the home side, with only Jordan Hulme's effort troubling goalkeeper Dean Coleman.

Alex Reid forced a save from Jay Lynch and Jack Duggan hit the side-netting, as Rushall edged forward as the game went on.

Benbow was harshly booked for a dive inside the area but opened the scoring three minutes before the break with a left-footed daisy cutter from 18 yards.

Less than 60 seconds later, Reid went through on goal and held off the challenge of substitute Luke Giverin and finished for his fourth goal in two games.

Richie Allen pulled one back from the sport on 51 minutes after he was felled by Zac Martin.

The hosts pressed for a second goal but were caught in the final few seconds of normal time when Benbow fired in from the edge of the area.
