Basford maintained their 100 per cent away record but Chasetown were unfortunate not to have shared the points.

In the 15th minute, Chasetown went close to breaking the deadlock when Lee Butler and Nathan Waite combined to set up Stan Mugisha.

His close-range stooping header was saved on the line by Saul Deeley. A minute later, however, the visitors took the lead with a crisp Ben Hutchinson free-kick.

Chasetown upped the ante after the break and a neat pass from James Dance was met by the head of Waite, whose effort beat Deeley but struck the base of the post.

Star man Mugisha out-paced his defender and Butler fired a whisker over the bar.

Basford forced Chasetown keeper John Bateman into a spectacular double save to deny Hutchinson from distance and then Tyrelle Shannon-Lewis's follow-up header, as the visitors bagged the points.
