Brindley says Pitmen 'owe fans a Boston performance'
Stand-in boss Chris Brindley admits that the Keys Park faithful deserve more after last weekend's flat defeat to FC United of Manchester.
The manager-less Pitmen welcome Boston United tomorrow while still searching for Rob Smith and Larry Chambers replacements but Brindley fancies his side to build on an impressive win at Worcester City on Bank Holiday Monday.
The Town hero, who refused to provide an update on his position, was delighted with how the squad were able to recover from a tough few days.
He said: "Saturday was difficult for everybody. The events had a big effect on the players and it was a very flat and poor performance .
"It was a shame because we wanted to give a good account of ourselves at home in front of our fans."
But Hednesford's 4-1 drubbing at Worcester City lifted spirits, as Tom Thorley, Ahmed Obeng, Sean Williams and Ben Bailey helped prove their is life after Smith and Chambers.
Brindley added: "We had some time to reflect in the two days before Worcester and every man put in a great performance on Monday.
"Boston are always a tough team but this is a very tough league.
"We'll take Monday into the game and hopefully it'll be better for the fans."
The Pitmen will be without defender Curtis Tilt, who followed Smith to AFC Telford United.
A club statement yesterday read: 'The situation is that we are currently interviewing short-listed candidates. We expect to make an appointment early next week.'
It is not known how many are in the frame.
