Both sides had chances in the first-half and Scholars goalkeeper John Bateman had to be at his best to push away an effort from Tim Grice.

The visitors twice went close to breaking the deadlock when Marc Strzyzewski headed off the line from Paul Sullivan and then threw himself in front of the rebound off shot-stopper Lee Butler.

The Scholars scored what proved to be the winning goal in 57 minutes.

Butler's dangerous cross from a corner was headed across goal by Man of the Match Francino Francis and Nathan Waite netted with an acrobatic overhead kick.
