Long journey for tough Kiddy test

The same fixture last season saw Gary Whild's men triumph 1-0 in a close encounter at the Crabble Athletic Ground and the Aggborough chief believes they will have to work just as hard for another three points.

"I think when you're in this league, there's not really any easy games," said Whild. "When you take into account the trip down there, which is roughly about four hours, it's going to be a tough game for us.

"We went there last season and managed to win 1-0 but that was on a weekend so we were able to travel down on the Friday and stop over, so it will be harder this time. They have brought a few players in and they are looking to kick on now so it will be a tough game, no doubt."

Dover had a solid end to last season, finishing in eighth, and now have defender Jamie Grimes in their squad after he left the Harriers earlier in the summer.

A packed crowd of 3,459 were on hand at Aggborough to witness Kidderminster kick-off their National League campaign with a 2-2 draw against Grimsby Town, but they will look to go one better away from home.

Whild was well served by his players last time out, with new goalkeeper Dean Snedker pulling off a number of important saves, but will be without experienced defender Kelvin Langmead – who was substituted shortly after half-time on Saturday – for tonight's game.

He added: "Obviously Kelvin Langmead had a nasty bang on his heel, with the two games in quick succession it wouldn't give it time to clear up.

"Other than that, we won't be making many changes."
