Wednesfield win in extra time cup drama
Wednesfield clinched a place in the West Midlands League Premier Division Cup final with a well deserved 3-1 victory over Black Country Rangers after extra time.
Rangers broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute, Anthony Parkes beating Wednesfield's keeper Sam Arnold from just outside the penalty area.
Wednesfield replied two minutes later when Ashley Evans equalised after playing a one-two with Scott Embrey.
Defences were well on top in the second half with Wednesfield's central defender Richard Golding outstanding as the game drifted towards extra time.
The visitors rocked Rangers by taking the lead for the first time in a close-fought game. Ricky Nicholls beat keeper Luke Tilt from the penalty spot in the 102nd minute after Ben Sanderson had been fouled in the area.
Two minutes later Sanderson made it 3-1 with a great run and finish from 12 yards.
Wednesfield face Ellesmere Rangers in the final at Willenhall FC on Saturday, with a 2pm kick-off.
