James Dance steps it up for Rushall

Rushall Olympic continued their good form with a hard-fought win at relegation-threatened Marine.

The Pics inevitably had to soak up a bit of pressure early on, Andy Fowler shooting wide after goalkeeper Chris Gemmell had attempted to smother the ball.

Matty Devine was also off-target for Marine while Rushall's first foray on goal saw Ahmed Obeng go down in the box with the penalty claim turned down. Obeng also shot wide after he found himself through on 27 minutes.

Two minutes later, Marine keeper Sean Lake saved Josh Craddock's long-range header from a James Dance cross.

Then Gemmell saved a Dale Wright header on 31 minutes before Carl Palmer went straight down the other end only to scuff his shot after being set up by Dele Adebola.

But Rushall took the lead on 37 minutes with another powerful header from Craddock, who met a Zac Martin corner.

The second half saw Rushall continue to press and they made it two on 54 minutes with a penalty converted by Dance after Martin went down in the box.

Gemmell pushed a piledriver from Andy Fowler onto the bar 10 minutes from time as Marine responded.

And the home team did get a goal back on 85 minutes. Substitute Aaron Wrey cleverly lobbed Gemmell, but it proved to be only a consolation. Rushall travel to Matlock Town tomorrow night.
